Thames Water
Thames Water Utilities Limited (TWUL) underwent a major implementation of SAP in 2009 to 2010, to include FICO, BI, Self Service HR, Supply Chain and Capital Management. Following the completion of a widespread project training programme across the organisation by iTrain, TWUL needed to address the ongoing requirement for SAP Business as Usual training. In conjunction with this, TWUL wanted to address the wider issue of technical training on all the other systems within the organisation, many of which are industry specific, such as GIS systems, and others that are used widely by back office staff such as the Microsoft Applications. iTrain are the continuing partner for all SAP training.
Enabling Change
Since August 2010, iTrain has worked closely with TWUL IS and HR departments to provide a full training service aimed at completely lifting the burden of IS training from the organisation. iTrain provide a full time Administration service, with responsibilities including the management of all training requests from the business, schedule of courses, booking of trainers and venues, dealing with feedback and assessments and facilitating the input of results and attendance directly into the SAP HR system.
iTrain SAP trainers underwent an initial 6 week on-boarding process to learn the TWUL specific SAP training courses, and then started a schedule of ongoing delivery of Business as usual (BAU) training across the Thames Water region. Highly experienced in their field, our trainers have also been required to review and amend the original project training materials to accommodate new process changes, and ensure that data for hands on training is up to date and stable. iTrain training specialists are also working with TWUL on training requirements for GIS, Sample Manager, HR enhancements, Microsoft, and a major roll-out of WAMI asset management in 2011.
As part of the Framework, TWUL decided to adopt iTrain’s eLearning and LMS tool for the ongoing development of training materials, and this has been integrated with the TWUL SAP system for ease of use by staff. Stratus has allowed TWUL to improve training evaluation and iTrain is now undertaking a project for the evaluation of assessment methods, providing recommendations to enable compliance with the TWUL Kirkpatrick training philosophy. To ease the constraints on training venues, iTrain has also set up a suite of training rooms for the use of TWUL close to the Head Office, and offers use of other iTrain venues as required by the business to support ongoing projects.
