Northern Ireland Civil Service
The Northern Ireland Civil Service has engaged an £800m programme to consolidate IT systems and share services across its 11 government departments. The flagship programme offers a blueprint for the rest of the UK public sector. The programme features a raft of integration projects, including the merger of at least 10 datacentres, the creation of a single network, and a single finance system to cover 11 government departments.
The single finance system project, dubbed Accounts NI, will centralise accounting transactions using an Oracle Financials installation. Additionally, separate departmental centres will be replaced by a central IT helpdesk and a human resources shared services centre. The Oracle infrastructure has been configured and will be supported by Fujitsu and iTrain.
Enabling Change
iTrain were selected by Fujitsu to provide expert resources and consultancy to support the configuration and rollout of the Oracle r12 eBusiness Financials Application. In particular, iTrain provided a team of expert business intelligence and reporting experts to support the configuration and rollout of the business intelligence and reporting programme deployed using the Oracle Discoverer and XML Publisher platform.
In addition to providing technical support for the configuration and deployment of Oracle Workflow, iTrain was responsible for the implementation and configuration of the Discoverer End User Layer (EUL), for the design of bespoke configuration of the EUL to meet business specific reporting and BI requirements and for the subsequent specification of required reporting outputs to satisfy statutory and management reporting needs. Our expertise incorporated both Finance and Human Resource workbooks and we provided expert business transformation and change consultancy to support the development and rollout of the discover suite across the entire project. iTrain have worked closely with the Fujitsu team and this has proven highly successful through our support of the Fujitsu team and their programme and project management responsibilities, through iTrain’s ongoing commitment to knowledge transfer and through our team’s accessible and flexible approach to collaborative working.
