Greater Manchester Police
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) replaced their Terian stores management application with an Oracle based solution to interface with the existing Oracle Financials systems and also to incorporate a full purchasing cycle working with iProcurement to handle internal and external requisition needs. The programme was designed to continue the rollout of an enterprise wide business infrastructure based around the Oracle r12 eBusiness Suite of modules.
Enabling Change
The iTrain programme incorporated the implementation of Oracle Purchasing and iProcurement within the stores with Oracle Order Management and Inventory to permit the full processing of uniform supplies using the Oracle system. Officers are able to place internal orders for supplies through the iProcurement system and that these are then fulfilled using the Order Management modules within the stores. It was also the goal of the programme to facilitate improvements in the business processes and Oracle system processes within the stores function to make the usage of the applications streamlined and efficient for stores personnel. The iTrain proposal provided a fully configured Oracle based solution, incorporating specialist consultancy support and knowledge of the Oracle eBusiness Suite. iTrain worked collaboratively with the GMP team to fully support the change management as well as the technical integration requirements of this business critical programme. The new application was configured to support the strong business rules associated with the ordering and authorization of uniform supplies and that the ease of use of the new systems formed a critical component of overall programme success. The iTrain approach worked collaboratively with GMP to fully support the use and deployment of Oracle with a broad technical integration and change management support programme, reducing risk and cost to the project and providing significant long-term efficiency gains for the ongoing support and management of the applications. The application incorporated a range of interfaces to the existing Oracle financial systems to handle controls associated with purchasing, payment processing, supplier processing and journals to the ledgers.
