ARC GIS - What you need to know....

ArcGIS for Desktop

ArcGIS for Desktop allows you to analyze your data and author geographic knowledge to examine relationships, test predictions, and ultimately make better decisions.

It is available in three license levels Basic, Standard, or Advanced (formerly ArcView, ArcEditor, or ArcInfo, respectively). These license levels share the same core applications, user interface, and development environment. Each license level provides additional GIS functionality as you move from Basic to Standard to Advanced.

Details on three licence levels:

  • Basic (ArcView) – Map Creation and Interactive Visualisation
  • Standard (ArcEditor) - Map Creation and Interactive, Multiuser Editing and Advanced Data Management.
  • Advanced (ArcInfo) - Map Creation and Interactive, Multiuser Editing and Advanced Data Management, Advanced Analysis, High-End Cartography, and Extensive Database Management.

Optional ArcGIS for Desktop extensions offer specialized tools and additional capabilities to enhance your system.

iTrains ARC GIS Desktop training course teaches what a GIS is and what you can do with it. Working with various components of the ArcGIS platform, you will create GIS maps, explore and analyze the data behind the maps, and learn easy methods to share your maps and analysis results. By the end of the course, you will have a solid understanding of how GIS maps and ArcGIS tools are used to visualize real-world features, discover patterns, obtain information, and communicate that information to others.

On our ARC GIS Desktop training course, you will acquire fundamental skills needed to author, share, and use geographic information and maps across the ArcGIS platform. You will learn how to efficiently find, explore, manage, and analyze geographic data and create informative maps that showcase your work. The course covers a variety of techniques to effectively share GIS maps and resources with decision makers, stakeholders, and the public.

At version 10.2, ArcGIS is a complete platform that individuals and organizations use to find, explore, create, and share maps.   Collaborate in groups and communities; and deploy GIS resources wherever they are needed. In this workshop, the instructor discusses major enhancements to the ArcGIS platform and demonstrates the more intuitive workflows now available to visualize, edit, analyze, and share GIS data and maps.

Your organization's ArcGIS Online site is a source for GIS data, web maps, and other geographic content that can inform and add value to your projects. In this workshop, the instructor shows how to discover content available on an ArcGIS Online organizational site, determine if the content is suitable for your needs, and interact with the content using web maps and Esri Maps for Office.
